AMERICAN APPLE PIE RECIPE
Everyone in the family will
really enjoy American Apple Pie. It has a really wonderful
flavour to it. I always make two when I am doing my baking
as one is never enough for my family. The American Apple Pie
is great served with ice cream or lovely thick custard or
just with cream. If your family is like mine some like it
with cream and some with the ice cream but my favourite is
with the custard. But what ever way it really taste good,
even without the extras with it.

Apple Pie Ingredients
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 x 9 inch pie crust
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 Tbs all purpose flour
1 egg beaten
1 tsp grated lemon zest
1 tsp granulated sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
6 medium apples
1 cup raisins

Apple Pie Method
First thing to do is heat the
oven to 425 degrees. Prepare a 9 inch deep pie plate by
spraying it with vegetable cooking spray. Combine in a large
bowl the brown sugar, flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon,
lemon zest, and nutmeg and stir well till all the
ingredients are combined. Next peel and core the apples and
slice them thinly. Put the apples into the sugar mixture and
coat them all over. Mix in the raisins and then spoon the
mixture into the prepared pie plate.
Gently lift the pie crust and put it on top of the filling.
To trim the edges run a knife around the edge of the pie
plate and then using your finger just press the edge down on
the edge of the pie plate. Cut vents in the top of the pie
crust with the point of a knife. To glaze brush the pie
crust with the beaten egg and then sprinkle with the
teaspoon of granulated sugar. Bake the American Apple Pie
for 30 to 40 minutes or until it is golden brown. When it is
cooked place it on a wire rack till it has cooled down
slightly and serve it warm.
