APPLE SLICE RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Apple Slice. It is a quick and
easy recipe to make. Apple pie and custard use to be my
favourite until I started to make the Apple Slice. My whole
family really love it with ice cream in summer and hot
custard in the winter months. But what ever time of the year
you have it is always good and the taste is really
exceptional.

Slice Ingredients
125g butter
2 grated apples
2 Tbs icing sugar
2 Tbs lemon juice
250g cream cheese
1/2 cup castor sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/4 cup self raising flour
1 Tbs castor sugar extra

Slice Method
First grease a 25cm x 30cm
swiss roll pan. In a small bowl sift icing sugar and butter
and cream using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Stir in the sifted flours in 2 lots. Knead pastry quickly
and gently on lightly floured surface until just smooth then
spread 2/3 of the pastry evenly over the base of prepared
pan. Wrap remaining pastry in plastic wrap and refrigerate
30 minutes or until firm.
Beat cream cheese in a small bowl with an electric mixer
until smooth then beat in the sugar and lemon juice. Spread
the mixture over the pastry then top with apple and grate
remaining pastry and sprinkle over the top of apple and
sprinkle with extra sugar. Bake the Apple Slice in
moderately hot oven for 10 minutes then reduce heat to
moderate and bake a further 20 minutes or until golden brown
then cool the Apple Slice in the pan before cutting.
