Apple
Turnovers Method
The first
thing to do is make the pastry. Mix the salt and flour
together and cut in the shortening. Add the water a
tablespoon at a time. Form the dough into a ball and roll
out on floured surface. This dough will dry out quickly so
use immediately. Heat the oven to 425 degrees. In a saucepan
bring the apples and 1/3 cup water to a boil then lower the
heat and simmer for 5 minutes and then stir in the rest of
the ingredients except the butter and bring it to the boil
again and boil for 1 minute then add the butter. Cut the
dough into squares and fill with the apple mixture. Bake the
Apple Turnovers on a greased cookie sheet at 425 degrees for
about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Drizzle a
confectioner’s sugar and water glaze over the turnovers when
cool.
Enjoy your freshly made Apple
Turnovers!
