BARLEY BREAD RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Barley Bread. It is a quick and
easy recipe to make.
Barley Bread is a very delicious bread, while still warm
spread a little butter on top and eat and enjoy it. The
flavour and texture is absolutely fantastic. I used to watch
my mother making this bread recipe as I use to sit and watch
the yeast rise and become bubbly.

Bread Ingredients
2 tsp salt
2 Tbs honey
2 Tbs olive oil
2 cups barley flour
4 1/2 tsp dry yeast
2 cups warm water
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups unbleached white flour

Bread Method
We have
to start with the yeast first so dissolve the yeast in the
warm water and place it into a large mixing bowl and then
stir in the honey and leave till the yeast becomes foamy.
After the yeast has done this combine the barley flour,
wheat flour and the unbleached flour and add half to the
yeast mixture and beat it with a wooden spoon for 10
minutes. The consistency should be of thick mud and then
cover the mixture and set aside to rise for 1 hour till the
dough has doubled.
Punch dough down and carefully fold in olive oil, salt and
1/2 cup remaining flour. Gradually fold in more flour till
dough starts to come away from the sides of the bowl.
Lightly flour a surface and place the dough on it and knead
well for 10 minutes and add more flour as necessary. Lightly
oil a mixing bowl and put the dough into it and cover and
leave it till it has doubled in size. Punch dough down again
and shape into 2 domed round loaves and cut a cross in the
center. Place on an oiled baking sheet, cover and let rise
till doubled, 60 minutes. Bake the Barley Bread at 350
degrees for 50 minutes.
