BOILED SULTANA CAKE RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Boiled Sultana Cake. It is a
quick and easy recipe to make.
I prefer Boiled Sultana Cake better than a fruit cake as I
love sultanas, some say they all taste the same but they
definately do not.
Boiled
Sultana Cake Ingredients
3 eggs
pinch salt
1/2 lb butter
1 cup sugar
1 lb sultanas
3/4 cup water
2 Tbs hot water
3 cups plain flour
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
Boiled
Sultana Cake Method
In a saucepan put 3/4 cup
water and sultanas and bring slowly to the boil and boil for
5 minutes. Drain well then let the sultanas cool thoroughly.
Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla essence until light and
fluffy then beat in the eggs one at a time, beating well
after each addition then fold in the cooled sultanas. Mix
the flour, baking powder, salt and mixed spice and add to
the creamed mixture. Add the hot water and mix thoroughly.
Turn into an 8 inch cake tin which has been greased and the
base lined with greased paper. Bake the Boiled Sultana Cake
in a moderate oven at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Serve
with a spoonful of whipped cream.
