BOSTON CREAM PIE RECIPE
Boston
cream pie is a dessert you can make for a special occasion.
To make it really special grate chocolate over the top and
add whipped cream to the sides of the Boston Cream Pie this
just adds a special touch.
My family just love it when I make this dessert and I always
make a special meal to go with it.

Cream Pie Ingredients
Cake
layers:
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs
2/3 cup milk
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
Custard:
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbs vanilla
2/3 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup cornstarch
4 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
Glaze:
1/4 cup Milk
1 Tbs Butter
3 oz Chocolate
1/3 cup Confectioner's sugar

Pie Method
PREPARE
CAKE LAYERS:
Heat oven to 350 degrees and then grease and flour two 9
inch round cake pans. In a large bowl with electric mixer at
medium speed beat flour, butter, sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla
and baking powder for about 4 minutes until thoroughly
blended and smooth. Spoon batter into prepared pans and bake
30 minutes until wooden pick inserted in center of each
layer comes out clean. Remove layers to wire racks to cool
completely.
PREPARE EGG CUSTARD:
In a large saucepan stir sugar, cornstarch and salt until
thoroughly mixed and then slowly stir in milk until smooth.
Bring to boil over medium heat stirring constantly, cook 1
minute until mixture boils rapidly and thickens. Remove from
heat and then very slowly pour lightly beaten egg yolks into
hot mixture making sure to stir rapidly and constantly to
blend and keep smooth. Return mixture to low heat and cook
for 1 minute longer. Do not allow to boil. Remove from heat
and stir in vanilla. Cool completely stirring frequently.
PREPARE CHOCOLATE GLAZE:
In a small heavy saucepan over very low heat melt the
chocolate and butter stirring frequently until blended and
smooth. Remove from heat and then stir in confectioners
sugar and milk until blended and smooth. Keep warm and
covered. To assemble using sharp serrated knife carefully
cut the cooled cake layers in half horizontally. Place one
layer cut side up on serving platter spread with 1/3 cooled
custard. Repeat with remaining cake layers and custard,
ending with cake layer cut side down. Spoon warm glaze over
top of cake.
