CHILLI CON CARNE RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Chilli Con Carne. It is a quick
and easy recipe to make.
If there is any Chilli Con Carne left over the next day I
have found it's really nice heated up and on hot buttered
toast. The flavour of this recipe is really sensational and
it even tastes just as good the second day.

Con Carne Ingredients
2 onions
2 Tbs oil
3 tomatoes
1 clove garlic
1 dsp vinegar
1 green pepper
1 tsp brown sugar
2 dsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup boiling water
1 1/2 lb stewing steak
1 1/2 Tbs seasoned flour
cold water with 1/2 tsp salt
2 cups brown kidney beans

Con Carne Method
Soak the kidney beans
overnight. Next morning drain then place in a saucepan cover
with cold water and salt and bring to the boil. Cook for 40
minutes or until tender and drain well. Heat the oil in a
frying pan and stir in thinly sliced onions and cook until a
golden brown then remove from the pan. Cut the meat into 1/2
inch cubes, roll in the seasoned flour and fry in the same
oil until brown on all sides.
Pour the oil from the pan into a large saucepan and add the
onions, peeled and quartered tomatoes, chopped green pepper
and boiling water. As the mixture comes to the boil add
crushed garlic then the beef, chilli powder and mustard.
Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes. Add the cooked
kidney beans and simmer for a further 30 minutes. Add the
vinegar and brown sugar and some salt if necessary, cover
and simmer again until the meat is tender but not ragged.
Serve the Chilli Con Carne with hot steamed rice.
