LAMB LAYER CASSEROLE RECIPE

This recipe will teach you how to make Lamb Layer Casserole. It is a quick and easy recipe to make. This casserole recipe has layers of onion, lamb, cabbage, rice, carrots and turnips done in a rich thick gravy and beef stock. The taste of the Lamb Layer Casserole is really wonderful and it is a real hearty meal to dish up to the family with crusty hot bread rolls.

Lamb Layer Casserole Ingredients

2 Tbs butter
1 turnip thinly sliced
1 cup long grain rice
2 carrots thinly sliced
1 small head cabbage
2 1/2 cups beef stock
1 large onion chopped
2/3 cup rich thick gravy
1 lb cooked lamb cubed

Lamb Layer Casserole Method

In a flameproof casserole melt the butter and gently fry the onion until soft then add the lamb and gravy and cook gently for a few minutes. Place a layer of cabbage leaves over the meat and then a layer of rice on top then cover with a layer of carrots and turnip. Pour the stock slowly into the pan. Bring to the boil then cover and cook the Lamb Layer Casserole in a preheated moderately hot oven for 35 minutes until lamb and rice are tender.
