OLD DARK CASSEROLE RECIPE

This recipe will teach you how to make Old Dark Casserole. It is a quick and easy recipe to make. Old Dark Casserole is a great recipe to make. The flavours of the steak, onions, carrots, mushrooms, celery, tomato paste, beer, beef stock and cloves makes this casserole recipe taste exceptional. You must use dark beer in this recipe.

Old Dark Casserole Ingredients

2 Tbs oil
1/2 cup beef stock
2 Tbs tomato paste
12 oz can dark beer
1 1/2 lb chuck steak
2 Tbs seasoned flour
6 cloves garlic crushed
2 stalks celery chopped
2 onions roughly chopped
salt and pepper to season
2 Tbs chopped fresh thyme
2 carrots peeled and chopped
8 oz mushrooms halved if large

Old Dark Casserole Method

Cut the chuck steak into 1 inch pieces then dust with the flour. Heat the oil in a frying pan and brown the meat then transfer to a casserole. Add the tomato paste to the pan and stir over a low heat until it darkens to a brown color and stir in the dark beer, stock and thyme. Add to the casserole with the onions, garlic, carrots, celery and mushrooms then season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook the Old Dark Casserole at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours until the meat is tender. Serve with your favourite winter vegetables.
